A History and Dedication
-In Loving Memory and Everlasting Thanks to Matt-
Artful Dodger Ink is the next entry in a storied tale, the centerpiece of which would be Matthew “Scallywag” Voris. Matthew apprenticed under JT Money at Ancient Art in Virginia, who himself was an apprentice of JD Crowe.
Matt travelled — Virginia, Florida, Missouri, to name a couple locales — before eventually returning back home to Kentucky and starting his shop, Villified Ink, in Fairdale. The shop was to take on its next incarnation following the passing of his late wife Angela (Gee) in 2018; Sea of Ink Studio was to be his project going forward with his partner and other half Elisha, and apprentice Kt.
Unfortunately though, that dream was truncated because of the pandemic, and then ultimately cut unfairly short with Matthew’s own untimely passing in a fatal motorcycle accident on July 1, 2020.
In 2022, Kt will move forward with the legacy of knowledge imparted to them by not only a mentor, but a friend — and moreover, just an amazing Human. Beyond everything, he truly believed in humanity. …The many people who had the opportunity to meet him will always feel his loss, and the world’s a lot less rich without him.
